Play of the day:Tina Turner-Goldeneye Thursday, Apr 30 2009

A bit late but here’s the song of the day, Goldeneye which I think we all know well (My name is Bond,James Bond) . Impressive artist, Tina Turner remains a stunning woman even at her age..Enjoy!

See reflections on the water
More than darkness in the depths
See him surface and never a shadow
On the wind I feel his breath

Goldeneye, I found his weakness
Goldeneye, hell do what I please
Goldeneye, no time for sweetness
But a bitter kiss will bring him to his knees

Youll never know how I watched you from the shadows as a child
Youll never know how it feels to be the one whos left behind
Youll never know the days and the nights, the tears, the tears Ive cried
But now my time has come and time, time is not on your side

See him move through smoke and mirrors
Feel his presence in the crowd
Other girls they gather around him
If I had him I wouldnt let him out

Goldeneye, not lace or leather
Golden chain take him to the spot
Goldeneye, Ill show him forever
It will take forever to see what Ive got

Youll never know how I watched you from the shadows as a child
Youll never know how it feels to get so close and be denied
Its a gold and honey trap Ive got for you tonight
Revenge is a kiss this time I wont miss
Now Ive got you in my sight

With a goldeneye
Golden, goldeneye
With a goldeneye, goldeneye

Memories from the Golden Age/ Amintiri din Epoca de Aur Tuesday, Apr 28 2009

Cristian Mungiu a known director here in Romania managed to snatch the big prize at Cannes Festival in 2007 using  a sad story to impress the judges. The movie  was called ” 4 luni , 3 saptamani, si doua zile / 4 months, 3 weeks and two days ” . Personally i wasn’t impressed by the idea of the movie. The subject was harsh and as always communism related. It seems us Eastern Europeans have this tendency of always complaning what a hard life we had, and how much we suffered during that period of time.I’m not saying it wasn’t hard hence my anterior post a week or so ago, but i think we should try and do something happy, cheerful, vivid, i ‘m just growing tired of the same cliche, same story.Anyway back to my point i should add that now Cristian Mungiu  is trying to catch our attention (and hopefully of the judges too) with a new production inspired from the 80′ , called “Memories of the Golden age/ Amintiri din Epoca de Aur”. The  new production has six mini-episodes and lasts thirty minutes, showing us the life and comic situations some carachters pass through that period of time. We wish him ” knock em’ dead” and bring the big prize home again.

Below you have the trailer for ” 4 luni,3 saptamani,si doua zile” . Enjoy

Play of the day:Morcheeba- Enjoy the ride Tuesday, Apr 28 2009

Maybe sometimes it’s just better to enjoy the ride and don’t take into account all the things.Just go with the flow..Enjoy!

Shut the gates and sunset
After that you can’t get out
You can see the bigger picture
Find out what it’s all about
You’re open to the skyline
You won’t want to go back home
In a garden full of angels
You will never be alone

But oh the road is long
The stones that you are walking on
Have gone

With the moonlight to guide you
Feel the joy of being alive
The day that you stop running
Is the day that you arrive

And the night that you got locked in
Was the time to decide
Stop chasing shadows
Just enjoy the ride

If you close the door to your house
Don’t let anybody in
It’s a room that’s full of nothing
All that underneath your skin
Face against the window
You can’t watch it fade to grey
And you’ll never catch the fickle wind
If you choose to stay

But oh the road is long
The stones that you are walking on
Have gone

With the moonlight to guide you
Feel the joy of being alive
The day that you stop running
Is the day that you arrive

And the night that you got locked in
Was the time to decide
Stop chasing shadows
Just enjoy the ride

Stop chasing shadows
Just enjoy the ride

Play of the day: La Roux-In for the kill( Skream remix) Monday, Apr 27 2009

A different song today, so just Enjoy!

We can fight our desires

But when we start making fires

We get ever so hot

Whether we like it or not

They say we can love who we trust

But what is love without lust?

Two hearts with accurate devotions

And what are feelings without emotions?

I’m going in for the kill

I’m doing it for a thrill

Oh I’m hoping you’ll understand

And not let go of my hand

(x2)

I hang my hopes out on the line

Will they be ready for you in time

If you leave them out too long

They’ll be withered by the sun

Full stops and exclamation marks

My words stumble before I start

How far can you send emotions?

Can this bridge cross the ocean?

I’m going in for the kill

I’m doing it for a thrill

Oh I’m hoping you’ll understand

And not let go of my hand

(x2)

Let’s go to war

To make peace

Let’s be cold

To create heat

I hope in darkness

We can see

And you’re not blinded by the light from me

I’m going in for the kill

I’m doing it for a thrill

Oh I’m hoping you’ll understand

And not let go of my hand

Play of the day:Nadia Ali -Crash & Burn Saturday, Apr 25 2009

I know i wrote about her some while back, but you always go back to the songs that influenced you in one way or another in your life..Great lyrics, great singer, and I’ll always have good words to say about her as an artist and as a person since i met her personally several times.

You knew me better than anyone ever
And I remember your very first letter
We were so young and all that we wanted was more
We feed each other like rebels on Harley’s
And I knew how to enter your body
But at the speed that we drove we were bound to wash out
We flew…
And I could read every word you were thinking
You gave me something I never was given
It was heaven and hell all at once as we laughed, and cried
There always needs to be one that is willin’
To throw a rope down to someone who’s slippin’
But sometimes you gotta know when to let it go…
[x2]
We flew, rockets to the sun
Knowin’ we’d crash and burn
That’s the risk we run when you fall, in love
Rockets to the sun
Knowin’ we’d crash and burn
That’s the risk we run when you fall, in love
We flew, rockets to the sun
Knowin’ we’d crash and burn
That’s the risk we run when you fall, in love
In love, in love, in love, in love…
We flew rockets to the sun
Knowin’ we would crash and burn
We flew rockets to the sun
Knowin’ we would crash and burn

Play of the day: Amy Winehouse-Will you still love me tomorrow Friday, Apr 24 2009

A sad but beautiful song. Enjoy!

Tonight you’re mine completely
You give your love so sweetly
Tonight the light of love is in your eyes
Will you love me tomorrow?

Is this a lasting treasure
Or just a moment’s pleasure?
Can I believe the magic of your sighs?
Will you still love me tomorrow?

Tonight with words unspoken
And you say that I’m the only one, the only one, yeah
But will my heart be broken
When the night meets the morning star?

I’d like to know that your love
Is love I can be sure of
So tell me now, cause I won’t ask again
Will you still love me tomorrow?
Will you still love me tomorrow?
Yeah

Play of the day: Ciara feat. Justin Timberlake-Love Sex Magic Thursday, Apr 23 2009

The lyrics could have been better, the song is a bit commercial but the video is H.O.T !!!

(Verse 1)

Your touch is so magic to me
The strangest things can happen
The way that you react to me
I wanna do something you can’t imagine
Imagine if there was a million me’s talking sexy to you like that
You think you can handle, boy
If I give you my squeeze and I need you to push it right back

(Verse Break)

Baby, show me, show me
What’s your favorite trick that you wanna use on me
And I’ll volunteer
And I’ll be flowing and going
Till clothing disappears, ain’t nothing but shoes on me
Oh, baby

(Chorus)

All night show with just you and the crowd
**DOIN’ TRICKS YOU’VE NEVER SEEN*
And I bet that I can make you believe
In love and sex and magic
So let me drive my body around ya
I bet you know what I mean
Cause you know that I can make you believe
In love and sex and magic

(Verse 2)

Everything ain’t what it seems
I wave my hands and I got you
And you feel so fly assisting me
But now it’s my turn to watch you
I ain’t goin stop you if you wanna grab my neck
Talk sexy to me like that
Just do what I taught you, girl
When I give you my heat and I need you to push it right back

(Verse Break)

(Chorus)

(Bridge)
(breakdown-JT)
Oh, this is the part where we fall in love (sugar)
Oh, let’s slow it down so we fall in love
But don’t stop what you’re doing to me

(Chorus [2x])

Play of the day: Sweetest Goodbye-Maroon 5 Wednesday, Apr 22 2009

Oh.. Uh huh.. Yeah.. Oh..

Where you are, seems to be as far as an eternity
Out stretched arms, open hearts and
If it never ends, then when do we start?

I’ll never leave you behind, or treat you unkind
I know you understand. oh…
And with a tear in my eye
give me the sweetest goodbye, that I ever did receive

Pushing forward and arching back
Brings me closer to heart attack
Say good bye and just fly away
when you come back,
I have some things to say

How does it feel to know you’ll never have to be alone
when you get home?
There must be someplace here, that only you and I could go..
So I could show you, how I feel..

Dream away everyday
try so hard to disreguard
The rhythm of the rain that drops
and coincides with the beating of my heart

I’ll never leave you behind, or treat you unkind
I know you understand. yeah.. yeah.. yeah…
and with a tear in my eye, give me the sweetest goodbye
That I ever ever ever did recieve

Pushing forward and arching back
Brings me closer to heart attack
Say good bye and just fly away
when you come back,
I have some thing to say

How does it feel to know you’ll never have to be alone
when you get home? (home..)
There must be someplace here that only you and I could go
So I can show you how I feel.( feel.. feel.. feel.. feel..)
(repeat)

Pushing forward and arching back
Brings me closer to heart attack
Say good bye and just fly away
when you come back,
I have some things to say

How does it feel to know you’ll never have to be alone
when you get home?
There must be someplace here that only you and I could go
To show you I feel…feel…feel…feel

Todo Sobre Mi Madre/ All About My Mother Monday, Apr 13 2009

I always thought that Pedro Almodovar was the best Spanish director.Born on 25 September 1951, started his career as an assistant in a local Spaniard phone company, did a bit  of theatre  and then  moved towards making movies. It was hard at first, started with short films who didn’t even had sounds. Technical and financial difficulties stopped him showing the world his vision of the heavy criticized, sometimes hidden life of gay and lesbian people and not only. Most of his movies are based on sexuality, desire , passion, finding one self, family …

His first full length  movie was Folle, folle, fólleme, Tim ( Fuck ,fuck ,fuck me Tim ) back in 1978. He started gathering people around him and succeeded making his first feature film called Pepi, Luci, Bom y otras chicas del monton ( Pepi, Luci,Bom and other girls on the heap)In the next years, he continued to pour out his love for drama, friendship, women and love. “Labyrinth of  Passions” , “Dark Habits ” , “Law of desire” , ” High Heels” , ” Talk to her ” , “Volver ” are just a few of his movies. But we’re not here to talk about those right now. I wanted to talk about ” Todo sobre mi madre/ All about my mother”  a pretty interesting movie for  those who have an open mind and don’t tend to judge a book by its covers. I’m not going to disclose a lot of of information about it. Just watch it. Remember that things are not always what they seem, and in this life and century , we have to accept and try to understand  that not all people are a  copy /paste of us.We are born males or females, but our character and personality is what makes us unique. I should add the fact that Pedro Almodovar is openly gay and his muse is not as you would tend to think ,a guy ,but a woman, and I think we all might guess who she is,  recently Oscar winner, Penelope Cruz .

Is Romania to blame for the riots in Moldova? Friday, Apr 10 2009

Is Romania to blame for the riots that went on in Moldova?

Romania as a country, was as well under communism and those who are old enough can remember the times when everybody had money but they had nothing to buy.The food, drinks and even simple bread was rationed. People would wake up at 4 a.m to go stand in line cause they overheard from a neighbor a new shipment of fruits was coming in at 6 a.m. And even though everything was rationed so everybody could receive their basic groceries like i said above, the dear president Ceausescu and his crew would take care that the shipment of say oranges, was just half a truck full instead of full load. So you can only imagine that some of those people standing in long lines for a few hours would go back to their homes empty handed. To buy something “special” like black chocolate or some foreign pack of cigarettes was a real adventure. Those were hard to get, sold under the table and expensive of course..Ceausescu used to have a lot of properties and goods just like any other communist president, the simple people living in Bucharest(the capital of our country) had only a house which eventually got demolished so mighty Ceausescu could build his own empire. He even demolished lots of churches or kinder gardens ,you name it , so he could build The House Of People which is the second largest building in the world after the Pentagon. The name was appropriate because it is said that a lot of people died while building this huge palace. The House of People stands beautifully today on a large tomb of people. Is that something to be grateful for ? Something to be proud of? I’ll leave you answer that one. Meanwhile if you loathed your neighbor it was as simple as a phone call to the Secret Police to get rid of him for good and I mean that.Every citizen who was suspected of conspiracy against the communist regime would receive a quick visit of a Secret Police agent, who would just come pick him up and imprison him in a well hidden spot, where he would get beaten until confessing what he did or even worse, kill him…

People were living in fear,100% controlled by this communist regime.Freedom of speech was a mere dream back then. The facts I mentioned are just an example of the “good” things happening in Romania back then.Ceausescu managed to do this for nearly 25 years, building his own empire on the expense of his people who were starving so he could pay his huge debts, that he accumulated doing all those constructions in a short period of time.

Having all that said, imagine living today under a communist regime.Imagine having no freedom of speech, imagine terror, lies, corruption, violation of the human rights, and isolation towards occidental world.Imagine Moldova.

More and more Moldavian people cross the border and decide to live here. Why? Well imagine getting rid of all the things said above and living a normal democratic life.Just because a bunch of students went there to protest against the fraud elections and threw some bricks , doesn’t mean that Moldavian president Voronin should close the borders on us,not letting people coming in or going out of the country, expelling the Romanian ambassador in Moldova, and ask us Romanian people to have a visa if wanting to cross the border in Moldova. This is absurd and indeed it’s a proof that Moldavian president Voronin has something to hide.Voronin also accused us  repeatedly of wanting to absorb his country.Well ,since I live in a democratic country and have this advantage called freedom of speech, I can and will state my opinion : If Moldova is so great ,then why are your children studying here?,why are your people choosing to live here? Don’t forget Moldova used to be a part of us, we speak the same language, and we have the same blood. And someday maybe we will be reunited. No,not by force ,by the choice of people. That’s all.
